BE Change Supports a Brand New Meal Program!

With the support of BE Change and our generous donors, Bhavishya Me Free Education School has launched a new daily meal program for its students!

This new program:

  • Feeds over 100 children lunch each school day, giving them much needed nutrition that they wouldn’t have otherwise.

  • Ensures Bhavishya Me’s students can attend school for a full day each school day, meaning they have more time to learn at school and engage with classmates and teachers.

  • Generates reliable income for 2 women in rural communities, who cook meals for the students each school day and operate the lunch program.

On April 1st, Bhavishya Me took the next step in its journey to serve its 110 students by providing them with a regular lunch at school for the first time in the school’s history. This program will now feed each student at Bhavishya Me a nutritious vegetarian lunch each school day. The school prepared a special meal and invited locals from nearby Manjhar Village to celebrate the achievement with students, teachers and staff. This new program is funded entirely by BE Change and our generous donors for all of 2022, and we will seek to raise funds to support the program in 2023 during our annual fundraiser at the end of this year.

Before partnering with BE Change, Bhavishya Me was unable to raise enough funding to feed its students lunch at school. Without provided lunch, students had to leave school early to return home to eat each day. Unfortunately, when they arrive at home, some students lack access to nutritious food. This new program will help ensure the children that attend Bhavishya Me get access to needed nutrition and are able attend school for a full day, giving them more time to learn at school and engage with classmates and teachers.

Bhavishya Me has hired two new cooks from nearby Manjhar Village to operate its meal program.

Sonmanti and Shunita, pictured here, will cook meals for Bhavishya Me’s 110 students each school day. The reliable income that the school pays Sonmanti and Shunita as employees will help them support their families while giving back to the local community.

This new program will ensure that

110 children

can count on a nutritious meal and attend school for a longer period each school day and

2 women

can count on reliable income as the school's new cooks!

This new program would not have been possible without the support of each of our donors. As always, we sincerely thank our donors for supporting childhood education in rural Bihar. Your donations allow us to continue supporting necessary and impactful projects at our partner schools, like this brand new meal program.

We look forward to continuing to bring you updates about the powerful impact your donations have on the lives of children in rural Bihar!
