Supplying the Future

The textbooks, pens, pencils and notebooks that students use to learn aren’t free. Unfortunately, the small, infrequent donations that private schools in Bihar rely on may not be enough to purchase these materials at the beginning of each school year.

Similarly, parents that support entire families on less than $2 per day are often unable to cover these costs when their children need new supplies. This means that many students are forced to reuse outdated textbooks and workbooks that have been filled in by prior students. They may even lack the writing materials and notebooks needed to study at home.

Children shouldn’t have to worry about having the tools to succeed.

In some parts of the world, students enjoy access to a steady supply of new materials. They’re handed clean copies of current textbook editions, fresh pens and pencils and brand new notebooks at the beginning of each school year. They don’t have to worry about basic supplies, allowing them to devote more of their time to mastering the material. BE Change wants to bring that level of certainty and stability to students in rural Bihar so they, too, can focus on the future.
